Der Bregenzerwald scheint seit 1993 auf der Liste derjenigen Objekte auf, die Österreich in den nächsten Jahren für die Aufnahme in das sogenannte "Weltkulturerbe" einzureichen beabsichtigt. Vorweg ist es nötig den eigenen Standort zu bestimmen. Wo steht der Bregenzerwald derzeit? Welches sind die Stärken und Schwächen der Region? Wo gibt es Verdrängtes, Totgeschwiegenes, Verleugnetes, Löbliches, Hervorhebenswertes usw.? 

Zur Auseinandersetzung mit diesen und weiteren Fragen haben wir einen Ökonomen und einen Wissenschaftler; die aus dem Bregenzerwald stammen, aber nicht mehr in diesem leben und arbeiten, eingeladen. Dr. Günter Bischof stammt aus Mellau und ist Zeithistoriker an der Universität New Orleans. Dr. Anton Fink stammt aus Bezau und ist Vorstandsmitglied der Privatbank Gutmann in Wien.
